Word Prediction
From ITCH
Word Prediction software works in conjunction with a word processor. It has a customisable lexicon which learns the user's vocabulary.
Penfriend XP is one example of software which can be used with a keyboard. As the user begins to type a possible list of words appears in a small window. The user can hover the mouse over the word to hear it read aloud. User can select word by clicking on it or by pressing a number which appears beside the chosen word. The software will also read text aloud if highlighted and copied. It is ideal for a user with a physical disability (because it minimises key presses) or those who need a little encouragement and help with spelling.
TextHelp. Read and Write Gold offers a more comprehensive (and complicated) approach to word prediction.
